JOB OPENING

JOB TITLE: LEGAL TECHNICIAN

DEPARTMENT: LEGAL

LOCATION: 419 Fulton, Room 403, Peoria, Illinois

HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

SALARY: 2024 Management Grade 118 - $52,565 - $71,289 annual salary

SUMMARY: Assist attorneys with document and file preparation. This is accomplished by scheduling appointments; handling correspondence; and drafting a variety of legal documents.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Six-months to one year of advanced study or training past high school equivalency like community college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools and one to three years progressively responsible related experience, a typing speed of 40 wpm and be able to meet the transportation requirements of the job required. A background check will also be performed. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, considered.

IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTES: Knowledge of specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature. Skill in using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines; organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up on assignments with a minimum of direction; applying logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; to understand, interpret and communicate complicated policies, procedures and protocols; using mathematics; communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; and preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials. Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias; perform the four basic arithmetic operations; and to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.
