Program Information/Mission
The mission of the Law Enforcement Certificate and the Associate in Applied Science Law Enforcement degree is to prepare graduates for employment in the law enforcement field by educating them in general education as well as specialized courses in criminal justice to prepare them to enter the law enforcement field.
Students should be aware that each law enforcement agency has its own employment criteria. The minimum requirements are a high school diploma or its equivalent, verification of excellent physical health, and that the applicant be at least 21 years of age. Some positions in law enforcement may require you to earn more than a certificate or two-year degree. But you will learn that your program instructors and many law enforcement professionals earn those degrees after beginning their career and many agencies provide assistance towards tuition and fees for your efforts to earn those additional degrees.
The Law Enforcement Certificate is well suited for Veterans or individuals who may have a degree or career experience in another area, but share a desire to serve their community as a Law Enforcement Officer. The degree is for anyone with the same desire, and especially for students looking for a degree that can lead to immediate employment in Law Enforcement.
