Job Summary
The Operations Support Clerk performs various functions and is responsible for assisting in maintaining and processing case information during the initial filing of documents, in accordance with approved internal controls, procedures, and rules. The Operations Support Clerk assists with records and reproduction and/or case initiation. The incumbent receives and reviews incoming court documents for conformity with federal and local rules and performs customer service for the purpose of providing procedural information and collecting court fees.

This role is public facing and includes significant customer interaction. While the primary duty station for this position is Peoria, Illinois, the selected candidate will be expected to provide support to the Clerk’s Offices for Springfield and Urbana. The incumbent reports directly to the Operations Manager.

All judiciary positions are subject to the availability of funds and staffing needs.

Duties:

  • Perform Electronic Court Recorder Operations (ECRO) duties, including recording and maintaining the official digital record of court proceedings.
  • Assist customers at the Intake counter. Accept and process court filings, inform customers of required court fees, collect applicable fees, and issue receipts. Secure cash register funds, balance drawer by end of day.
  • Provide customer service to court users, attorneys, trustees, and the public by answering phone inquiries regarding case status, archive information, procedures, and court services without providing legal advice.
  • Provide Electronic Case Filing (ECF) information and assistance to court users.
  • Communicate and respond to all requests regarding operations. Answer procedural questions for judges, staff, and the public. Provide customer service and resolve difficulties while complying with regulations, rules, and procedures.
  • Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail in accordance with established procedures
  • Open, maintain, and process bankruptcy case files from initiation through closure, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely case progression.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Two years of general work experience that indicates the candidate possesses or has the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position, such as clerical experience, including;
  • Experience using automated systems and office equipment, and
  • ability to apply and abide by policies and procedures.

· High level reading comprehension.

· Exceptional organizational skills, particularly priority and time management capabilities.

· The ability to exercise initiative in handling problems encountered while performing assigned duties.

· The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

· Unquestioned integrity and a positive, “can do” attitude.

Conditions of Employment:
