Are you up for the Challenge? Illinois Central College offers the only ABA approved Paralegal Program in Central Illinois

Our Paralegal graduates leave well rounded and fully prepared and they make it through our Associates in Applied Science and Post-Degree Certificate programs while overcoming some amazing adversity. Carol Nelson is just such a graduate, completing the Post Degree Certificate this spring. Carol sent the following much appreciated and unique note:

"Thank you, Professor Higgins. This was indeed my last semester and my last class. Last week (in my sleep-deprived delirium), I wrote the following:

My arms are fire, my vision weak
I need to sleep at least a week

My eyes are glazed, my jaw is slack
My children want their mother back.

I'm incoherent, sleep deprived
And yet I did it; I survived.

I can accomplish anything:
I passed Paralegal 118!

... It was three years ago that I went to your office downtown and talked with you about the possibility of entering ICC's paralegal program to work toward my post-degree certificate. Yes, it has taken me three years to get through a one year program! Because at this point in my life, this hasn't been easy. I'm older, trying to work and raise three children on my own, and was still determined to excel in school. This course of study has been one of the more challenging things I have faced: some semesters have been harder than University by a long shot, and harder than most jobs I've had. And also more stimulating.

But I stuck it out. I have learned that I can do things that I would have thought impossible. So this time when I walked across the stage at graduation, it meant something."
